Residents of Acton joined a celebratory party to commemorate the opening of their new Specsavers store on Saturday 22nd April.

Mayor of Acton, Councillor Dr Patricia Walker, declared the store open with a ribbon and cake cutting before receiving the first official tour of the new facilities.

Colouring competition winner

In the lead up to the celebrations, the eyecare experts gave every child visiting the store (whether they were having an eye examination or not) the chance to enter an Easter colouring competition.

With five Easter-themed designs to choose from, including one ‘freestyle’ option, all entries are being displayed in the window of the high street store.

The mayor helped judge the entries, announcing Tasnim Hussain as the overall winner.

Donations to charity

Sneha Pancholi, store director, presented Dr Patricia with a charitable donation for the Acton Homeless Concern, a charity close to the mayor’s heart.

By donating £1, customers also entered a prize draw to win one of three Waitrose Easter Eggs. The competition is still open, with contributions being donated to the RNIB.

‘It’s such a thrilling time for us to be joining the Acton community. I’m excited to meet the townspeople and get fully involved in the local community on a personal and professional level.

‘Our new space will provide a leading service in optics, contact lenses and NHS hearing care for the area.  Do pop in to learn more about the latest innovations debuting at the store’
