The team at Accrington Specsavers raised £842 for Comic Relief by hosting a fundraising weekend and selling funny frames in store.
It is the third Red Nose Day that Specsavers has supported the charity by launching the frames in store. Since 2015, Specsavers stores have raised £848,000 and this year, pledge to raise £250,000 in their quest to break the £1million mark.
On Red Nose Day (Friday 15th March), all staff took part in a clown-themed fancy dress, as well as hosting a bake sale and raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.
Family fun day
The store then hosted a family fun day on Saturday 16th March to raise even more money for the charity, with face painting and balloon modelling made available for children.
Jodie Conroy, ophthalmic director at Specsavers Accrington, says: ‘Comic Relief does such good work and our store is proud to support it. Our glasses this year are fantastic and we’d like to say thank you to everyone that came down to create such a fantastic event for a great cause and helping us smash our £1 million fundraising mark.’
