Kidderminster resident Pablo Colella has been chosen among thousands as a regional semi-finalist in the Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition.
Pablo, aged 28, said it was ‘a shock’ to make it to the regional semi-finals, as he didn’t even know he had entered the competition until he got the call to say he’d made it. After seeing it advertised in his local store, his father nominated him, but forgot to mention it!
Glasses are a great fashion accessory
‘I love wearing my specs, having worn them since I was a child, and think this competition is a great way to advocate looking good in your glasses. I have several different pairs and see them as a great fashion accessory,’ explained Pablo, who owns a fashion media company.
A visit to his local Specsavers in Kidderminster saw Pablo receive a bottle of champagne, a certificate, and a £150 eyewear voucher. If he triumphs in his age category, Pablo will be in with the chance of winning £10,000 with a holiday for two in New York and an eyewear wardrobe from Specsavers worth £1,000.
Store director Tim Reeves commented: ‘We’re delighted that Pablo has made it through to this stage of the competition – it’s great for us in store and we wish him luck in hopefully making it to the final.’
The awards were launched by former Pussycat Doll, Kimberly Wyatt, earlier this year as a celebration for specs wearers throughout the country. If Pablo wins in his age category, he could meet Kimberly and other celebs at the star-studded awards ceremony in London on 12 October.
Each age category winner will receive a VIP makeover and a trip to London for the awards evening, with one overall winner who will take home the ultimate prize.
