Local girl Alex Lindsay from Lisbellaw entered the 2016 Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year award and won a regional prize.

Specsavers in Enniskillen is encouraging glasses wearers in Enniskillen and the Fermanagh region to put their best foot forward and enter this year’s Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year. The overall UK and Ireland winner, which last year went to Banbridge civil servant Derek Dubery, receives a £10,000 cash prize.

Fermanagh celebrated finalist in 2016

Alex Lindsay from Lisbellaw collected a regional finalist award in the 2016 competition winning a bottle of champagne and a £150 voucher to purchase a pair of brand new spectacles. Alex who is a customer at the Enniskillen Specsavers store was encouraged to enter by optical assistant Kim Woods.

Over £400,00 raised for Kidscape to date

Ronan Rice, Enniskillen store director says: ‘We’re asking glasses wearers in the Fermanagh region to share their best selfie. It’s a fun opportunity for people to show off their personal specs style and each entry helps to raise funds for anti-bullying charity Kidscape. It was fantastic to have Alex Lindsay as a local winner last year and we’d love to celebrate another Fermanagh prize winner this year.’

Specsavers will donate £1 per entry to Kidscape and monies raised will support the charity in providing training, support and advice for children, parents and schools.

Five age categories

There are five age categories – 16-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-59 and over 60s. A Facebook favourite will also be voted for by the public. Each category winner receives a VIP makeover and will mingle with celebrities at the gala awards night held in London during October.

Glasses wearers can enter online at www.specsavers.co.uk/loveglassescomp.
