Cheltenham’s premier rugby club is hoping for a strong season on the pitch thanks to a generous sponsorship from Specsavers in Cheltenham.

Important role in local community

The store is one of the sponsors of the Cheltenham Tigers men’s and ladies’ First XV teams for the 2017/2018 season. The deal will see the players take to the field on match days with the logo on their shorts.

‘We’re delighted to be supporting the Cheltenham Tigers,’ said store director Melanie Brackstone. ‘The club plays a hugely important role in the local community, and that’s something we’re also passionate about, so it’s the perfect fit. It’s been great to see the players run out with our logo on their shorts and we wish them every success for the rest of the season.’

Established in 1889

Club chairman, Steve Ratcliffe, said: ‘The club has a long history in Cheltenham, having been established in 1889. This year also marks the 10-year anniversary of the purchase of Newlands, our home ground. The partnership with Specsavers is one that we’re really pleased to be involved in as it’s such a well-known brand. We’re looking forward to working together in the coming year.’

The Cheltenham Tigers men’s First XV play in the Tribute Western Counties North and the ladies’ First XV play in the Championship 1 South.
