A picture doesn’t always tell the full story and that’s certainly the case here as a cheeky member of a local scout group accepts a donation of high visibility jackets.
Road Safety Week
Specsavers’ Croydon stores joined forces to provide a donation of the high-vis jackets to the North Wallington Scout group for Road Safety Week.
The jackets will be used to help increase the safety of children when out and about by making it easier for motorists to spot them.
Road Safety Week also provides a great opportunity to promote the importance of regular eye tests for drivers too, given the importance of road users vision.
Educating young children
Specsavers Croydon store director, Bill Pennell, said: ‘It’s incredibly important we not only educate young children to make sure they use the roads safely but also to make sure drivers are aware of the standards their sight needs to adhere to in order for them to be safe on the roads.
‘These messages obviously take particular relevance within the winter months when visibility can be limited, so our donation of high visibility jackets will help, in some way, to making our roads safer.
'There is still a lot more to be done, however, and we would encourage to use the awareness week as an incentive to make sure their eyes meet the road safety standards.’
