Specsavers in Bury stepped in to make sure a local primary school’s football team took to the pitch in style with a brand new colourful football kit.
Kicking off the season in style
Staff at Specsavers Bury made sure Christ Church Primary School Walshaw Football Team looked the part as they kicked off this season after the school’s previous team strip was incomplete, with items going missing over the years.
The replacement of the team’s kit was originally going to be funded by the Friends of Christ Church before Specsavers store director Dale Coxon stepped in and made a sponsorship offer and kitted out the entire 11-a-side team.
Thank you, Specsavers
Thomas King, who plays on the football team says: ‘It’s great to finally be in the same coloured kit as all my friends! I think we look very smart representing our school now. We are all really grateful to Specsavers and want to say a big thank you to them for sponsoring our new kit.’
Since acquiring the new kit the Christ Church team has played three friendly matches; they have won one, lost one and drawn one.
Christ Church Primary School teacher and football coach, Stephen Beck, said: ‘The new kit is having a positive impact on the team’s performance and has made the children feel really proud to be part of the school team.’
Specsavers store manager, Dale Coxon, whose son is a pupil at Christ Church Primary, said: ‘It’s a pleasure to sponsor the football team at Christ Church Primary School. They are a talented group of footballers, and the entire Specsavers team are keen to support them in any way we can.’
