Satvinder eyes up new role at Daventry store
Specs wearers visiting Specsavers in Daventry will be greeted by a new face as the store welcomes a new director.
Where it all bagan
Initially working at Specsavers on weekends when he was 15, Satvinder Soomal went on to train as a dispensing optician before completing his optometry studies with a First Class degree from Anglia Ruskin University, where he was also awarded the Clinical Excellence Prize.
He then took up a post at Birmingham Eye Centre – the second largest eye centre in Europe – where he began working as a hospital optometrist before progressing to a senior specialist optometrist and eventually optometry manager and deputy head.
Now 35, Satvinder will work with fellow director Daljit Purewal to lead the team at Specsavers in the Regal Centre and broaden the services available to customers.
Exciting new challenge
‘I’m really excited to be embarking on this new challenge and so proud to be returning to the Specsavers family,’ said Satvinder. ‘The team has built a fantastic reputation in Daventry since opening its doors just over ten years ago, and I’m looking forward to utilising my experience to help the team continue to deliver the excellent service our customers have come to expect.’
The store will also be undergoing a full refurbishment later this month, offering four consulting rooms with the latest ophthalmic equipment, as well as a new audiology room and contact lens area.
‘I’m hoping my hospital experience will benefit our customers, provide support to the local eye hospital departments and reduce the burden on GPs and health care providers in the area by offering additional services,’ continued Satvinder.
