Specsavers Saltcoats hands over bumper charity donation
Two charities have received a welcome cash boost this month thanks to the team at Specsavers in Saltcoats.
An impressive total
Staff from the local opticians took part in several fundraising activities throughout 2014, raising an impressive £780 to be split between its two nominated charities.
Representatives from the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) – which offers a vision support service in Ayrshire – and Guide Dogs Scotland’s Ayrshire and Glasgow fundraising group recently visited the store to collect the donation.
The fundraising activity included a sponsored walk, which saw the 13-strong team from the Saltcoats store, join friends and family to trek for ten miles around the Isle of Cumbrae on the Ayrshire coast.
Delighted to support two very worthy causes
Al Ferdinand, store director of Specsavers in Saltcoats, said: ‘It was an absolute pleasure to have representatives from both charities with us in the store and we’re delighted to support two very worthy causes.
‘Staff really enjoyed fundraising throughout the past year – particularly the sponsored walk as we were able to enjoy some fun, quality time as a team with our loved ones while raising money.
‘I’d like to extend a big thank you to all of the staff for getting behind the events wholeheartedly and to all of our customers for their generous donations.’
