Members of staff at Specsavers in Rushden will be getting into the Christmas spirit on Saturday 26 November as they join local residents for the town’s annual Christmas light switch-on.

The team will take its place among other traders to talk to visitors about the importance of eye health before the holiday season and to raise money for local charity, Cransley Hospice.

Exciting event

‘The Christmas light switch-on is always an exciting event in Rushden, signalling the four-week countdown to the big day,’ said store director, Andrew Darby. ‘We want to encourage locals to visit us on our stall and to talk about seeing clearly during the festive period.’

Market-goers can also purchase tickets for the store’s raffle to be in with the chance of winning a Christmas hamper. Tickets will be on sale throughout December, with the winner announced on Monday 19 December.

Here to help

Andrew added: ‘This is going to be a great chance to chat with one of our opticians, who will be on hand throughout the day to give advice, win some Christmas goodies and raise money for a great local charity. We’re looking forward to welcoming many of our customers and the wider Rushden community on the day.’

Cransley Hospice provides hospice and specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses in the Northamptonshire area. The purpose-built unit relies on charitable donations from the general public and hosts numerous fundraising events throughout the year. To find out more, visit:
