A member of the team from Specsavers Devizes took a stand against cancer by taking part in Bath’s Race for Life, raising nearly £150.
On Saturday 7 July, Molly Petherick, an optical assistant at Specsavers in The Brittox, joined the thousands of participants who laced up their running shoes to help raise funds for Cancer Research UK. Kitted out in a pink t-shirt, Molly completed a distance of 5k which took her through the streets of Bath.
Thanks to generous family, friends and the local community, Molly raised a total of £145 for the cancer-fighting charity.
‘The amount I’ve raised has exceeded all expectations,’ says Molly. ‘It’s a fantastic total, and I’m glad it’s going to an equally fantastic charity. I had such a great day taking part in the Race for Life, and I’d love to do it again in the future.’
A word from the store director
Karen Carvallo, store director at Specsavers Devizes, says: ‘Molly has done herself proud taking part in the Race for Life. We’re all delighted to have such a determined individual as a member of the Specsavers Devizes team.’
Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life is a series of events raising money for research into all 200 types of cancer. Taking place across the UK, the events include 5k and 10k routes for participants to walk, jog or run, as well as the Pretty Muddy obstacle events.
