Q&A with Rumit Patel, Store Director, Specsavers Leigh
32 year-old Rumit Patel, store director at Specsavers in Leigh, talks about his love of Liverpool FC, wearing the latest trending glasses and the importance of delivering the very best in customer service.
A route to optical success
Qualifying as an optometrist in 2005, Rumit has worked within Specsavers ever since, progressing to director in December 2012, ‘the Specsavers Directorship route offered the platform I needed to really enhance my career, and I haven’t looked back‘.
With 23 members of staff, Rumit manages the large store in Leigh with a heavy focus on customer service, ‘undoubtedly, the best part of my role is seeing our customers, both commercial and clinical, receive the great service we’ve become known for‘.
The importance of regular sight and hearing checks
When he’s not leading his Specsavers team in Leigh, Rumit enjoys spending time with his wife and family and of course, proudly supporting Liverpool FC. With almost a decade’s experience looking after eyes, Rumit explains the importance of regular eye tests, ‘thoroughly checking the health of our eyes using specialist equipment is critical in order to diagnose any pathology that would otherwise go undetected‘.
Now offering hearing tests every Tuesday, Rumit also points out that hearing difficulties can affect any age group, ‘I recommend anybody who faces difficulties in hearing or has a family history of hearing deficiency, to come in for an assessment with the audiologist‘.
