Rugby trophy and sporting stars visit Morriston opticians
Rugby fever has hit Specsavers in Morriston as staff welcomed local rugby stars, school pupils and the Guinness PRO12 trophy to the store.
The acclaimed silverware was hosted by the Morriston store to build on Swansea’s excitement ahead of the Judgement Day IV tournament (30 April), as part of a tour that saw the trophy travel more than 100 miles to eight locations in Wales’ rugby regions.
Pupils from Morriston Primary School, along with Ospreys players, JJ Engelbrecht and Gareth Delve, visited the Morriston opticians to get up-close with the cup and celebrate its arrival to Wales.
Wyn James, director of Specsavers in Morriston, said: ‘It’s not every day that we have the opportunity to bring sporting stars, community groups and a much sought-after trophy into our store, so to say we were thrilled to host this event is an understatement.
‘At Specsavers, we pride ourselves on being a community optician and to uphold this standing we’re always striving to engage with all members of our community. Bringing in the trophy shows we champion the importance of looking after eye and ear health no matter what a person’s profession is.’
‘Real treat for children’
Karen Woodfield, head teacher of Morriston Primary School, said: ‘We’d like to say a big thank you to Specsavers for giving our pupils the chance to have their picture taken with the silverware and meet the two players. With the excitement building in the lead up to Judgement Day, this was a real treat for the children and it will be remembered as a very special day.’
