Routine eye test a lifesaver
Donaghadee mother Jean McCormick has hailed an eye test as a life saver after a tumour was detected in her son’s brain.
14 years ago, Jean’s then five year old son Jordan had a routine eye test at Specsavers in Bloomfield Shopping Centre when optometrist Stuart Douglas spotted a tumour in Jordan’s brain and referred him immediately to hospital.
Eye test revealed cancerous tumour
Jordan had been experiencing bad headaches and sickness but the cause couldn’t be determined.
‘After the eye test it all became clear and we were able to get Jordan on the right course of treatment to battle the cancer.’ explained Jean. ‘I’m so thankful we had that eye test booked in. I just know it saved Jordan’s life and I told Stuart at Bangor Specsavers exactly that.’
Aged 19 and thriving
Jordan is now 19 with a part-time job in retail and is attending college in North Down.
