Staff at Specsavers Ripon recently took part in a health and wellbeing session in the run-up to World Health Day on 7 April.

With health and wellbeing being an important aspect in the workplace, Specsavers Ripon provided the team with tools to improve their overall health and wellbeing, with quick tips on nutrition, lifestyle changes and supplementation.

The session was delivered with the aim of helping staff understand their nutritional needs, consider a healthier and more nutritious eating plan and show how easy it is to achieve optimum nutrition through a working day.

The team were given practical tips on how to plan their meals around their working day and the science behind why food choices make a difference to your overall health.

Staff at Specsavers also participated in a taster Pilates session in the store. The activity consisted of low-impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements, which staff can take away and use in their spare time to keep their body healthy.

A word from store retail director

Annette Lyons, Retail Director at Specsavers Ripon, comments: ‘Living a healthy lifestyle is not only good for your overall health and wellbeing but really important for your eyes and lowering your risk of eye disease.

‘The team really enjoyed the session and have started to make positive changes to their diet, as well as pursuing Pilates on a regular basis now. The team now feel confident to advise customers about the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle and the good it can do for your eyesight.’

Annette concludes: ‘Due to the success we experience we’re hoping to host a similar health and wellbeing evening for our customers later in the year so that we can help them live a happy and healthy lifestyle too!’
