Specsavers Ripon celebrated Comic Relief in style with a host of in store fundraising activities for customers to get involved with. The Ripon store raised more than £400 for the charity with a host of fun-filled activities, including a bake sale and bike ride.

Tasty treats

Taking inspiration from Gok Wan, who recently won the Comic Relief special episode of the Great British Bake Off, the team at the Specsavers store popped on their pinnies to bake a bundle of tasty treats. Customers indulged in store to help raise money for the worthy cause, raising a total of £82.

What’s more, members of staff took turn to cycle 258 miles on an exercise bike which was installed in the store for Red Nose Day. The exercise bike ride, which represented the distance between Ripon and London, helped to raise £345 for the charity.

A word from the director

Speaking about the Comic Relief in store fundraising, Nicola Nisbet, one of the store directors at Specsavers in Ripon, said: ‘Comic Relief is a really worthy cause and we wanted to do all that we could throughout the day to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

We thoroughly enjoyed making our faces funny for money to support the great work that Comic Relief does. We want to thank all, young and old, who came to join in the fun and buy their Red Nose Day glasses!’
