The team at Specsavers in Redditch are gearing up to compete in the local Go Bright for Sight Colour Run in aid of local sight loss charity, Sight Concern Worcestershire, as well as being a sponsor of the event.
Running for sight
Specsavers opticians at the Kingfisher Shopping Centre are sponsoring the charity 5k, held at the Arrow Valley Country Park at 11am on Sunday 11 September. As well as competing, members of the team will be also running a paint station on the day, covering walkers and runners in brightly coloured paint and smiles!
Beginning the race dressed in white, participants will be pelted with 100% natural brightly coloured paint as they pass ‘paint stations’ en route, finishing the race with a multi-coloured covering. Visually impaired runners will be supported to take part in the event, by being matched with a sighted guide to navigate the course.
Specsavers Redditch store director, Gurdeep Bansal, said: ‘We are delighted to be supporting the charity colour run and several members of the team have volunteered to Go Bright for Sight! Sight Concern does such fantastic work in the local community and we want to help promote the good cause and give something back.’
Open to all ages, the event will also feature a ‘Party in the Park’ at Sitch Meadows including face painting, bouncy castles, food and drink stalls throughout the day. For more information on how to enter, visit: www.sightconcern.co.uk/colour-run
