Reading opticians ensures a bright future for local pupils
Specsavers in Reading has helped pupils stay safe at night by donating high visibility vests to a local school.
Specsavers, located at 203-205 Shinfield Road, has made a donation of hi-visibility vests to primary school pupils in the town. Pupils from St Edward’s Primary School recently visited the store and received a fluorescent vest which will help them be clearly seen when travelling to and from school and when on school trips.
Whilst in the store the children were also given an educational talk on the work of an optician.
Specsavers store director, Sanjeev Vara says: ‘We wanted to play our part in helping the area’s youngsters to keep themselves safe.
‘After speaking to staff members and parents, we all agreed that local schools might welcome a donation of hi-visibility vests for the walk to school, as well as walking bus schemes or even class outings. The children were thrilled with their new jackets.’
Specsavers has campaigned throughout the past decade to highlight the link between vision and road safety. In addition to its work donating high-visibility vests to schools across the country, Specsavers has toured motor and country shows nationwide, screening drivers’ vision in its Drive Safe campaign trailer.
