Queensway opticians effort for charity
Specsavers Queensway has recently donated hundreds of unused glasses to Vision Aid Overseas (VAO).
Staff members have been encouraging local residents to donate their unused and unwanted glasses to the store in order to help the cause which sets up eyecare services in Zambia.
Queensway retail director
Ophthalmic director, Said Aghabozorg said: ‘We’re so grateful for the generosity of Queensway residents, as we’ve been able to donate hundreds of glasses this year.
‘We’re keen to keep up the drive and we’re encouraging more people to donate. It’s important that we provide opportunities for those less fortunate than us in the UK.’
More about Specsavers and VAO
Since 2003, Specsavers has donated £800,000 to VAO meaning 85,000 people have been able to receive eyecare in Zambia.
On top of this vision centres have been opened in eight Zambian provinces and the donation has helped to open the country’s first optometry training centre which was officially opened by Specsavers founder Dame Mary Perkins.
