Encouraging students to eye up optical career
Staff from the Specsavers store on Queen Street, Cardiff attended a high school event to talk to students about their career options working in the optical and audiology sectors.
Pre-registration optician, Rebecca Martinez, and store manager, Nicola Edwards, visited St Illtyds High School to talk about both the clinical and retail career opportunities available at Specsavers.
The pair also handed out leaflets to interested students.
Optical and audiological careers
Nicola Edwards said: ‘Rebecca and I spoke to a host of keen youngsters about their career options, and it was great that so many of the students had plenty of questions to ask us in return. Choosing a career path is a difficult choice, especially at school age when people are usually starting to consider their options, so whenever we can we like to talk to students about what it’s really like to work at Specsavers, and emphasise the variety of career paths available when working at the business.
From delivering sight or hearing tests to advising people of the best choice of frames, a career at Specsavers can be extremely varied and rewarding for people with the right skills and motivation. It really was a pleasure to visit St Illtyds High School.’
