Queen Street qualifications strengthen team
Specsavers on Queen Street, Cardiff has strengthened its team as three members of staff have qualified as lab technicians through the Specsavers Laboratory Development Programme.
Connor Arundel and Andrew Griffiths are now certified lab technicians, while Adam Lovering has qualified as an advanced lab technician.
The Queen Street team members have been on the development programme for the past 12 months, and completed the course with specialist in-house training after the store came joint first in a regional lab assessment.
The staff training involved learning how to make high quality spectacles with low wastage, as well acquiring the knowledge to advise customers on what lenses are suitable for their vision and budget. Connor, Andrew and Adam joined Specsavers 12 months ago, and in this time product waste from the store has reduced from 4.2% to 0.3%.
The trio are now working towards achieving ophthalmic dispensing certificates, to develop their front of house skills.
Phil Robinson, lab manager at Specsavers on Queen Street in Cardiff, said: ‘These latest qualifications really strengthen our team, and the fact that the training was done in-house also shows the excellent resources available here the store, both in terms of management and equipment, for our staff to benefit from.
‘We’re delighted that Specsavers can support Connor, Adam and Andrew in the development of their skills and their career in laboratory work.’
