Specsavers in Kirkcaldy has raised £85 to help boost a local teenager’s charity skydive.

The store held a bake sale to raise the total, which was donated towards the skydive, which Sophie McWhirter, 17, will do for Guide Dogs Scotland.

Sophie dropped by the opticians with puppy walkers from the charity Joyce Wallace and Lesley Murray, and Labradors Marco and Quaver, on Saturday, July 12.

The two cute canines visited the store to encourage customers to dig deep in support of Guide Dogs Scotland, which works to provide mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people.

Generous donations

Kathryn Thompson, director of Specsavers Kirkcaldy, says: ‘It was a great day and everyone was delighted with a visit from our new furry friends, Marco and Quaver.

‘We received lots of generous donations which I’m sure will be put to good use. I want to extend a big thank you to everyone who contributed and the puppy walkers for taking the time to visit our store.’

Fiona McWhirter, organiser for the Kirkcaldy branch of the charity, says: ‘I really appreciate how lovely all the staff at Specsavers in Kirkcaldy are and how supportive they have been of our branch.’
