Protect eyes from UV rays
Keen to remind customers how important eye protection is during the summer months is Specsavers in Uxbridge.
Gotta wear shades
Uxbridge donned their favourite sunnies and fundraised at the same time for charity partner, RNIB this week. Colleagues chose sunglasses awareness day and Macular Week (26 June - 2 July) as a key event in the annual calender to remind sun worshippers to protect their vision.
UV rays damages vision
We all wear shades to avoid glare - and be on trend and look cool! But little know that sun exposure can cause avoidable macular damage which is why our sunglasses are such an important weapon when it comes to protecting vision.
Age Macular Degeneration (AMD) affects over 600,000 people in the UK - an amazingly high number when you consider that some simple lifestyle changes, like wearing sunglasses, can help prevent it.
Pop on some shades
Charity partner of Specsavers, the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) is urging people to protect their eyes from avoidable macular damage during Macular Week. So to help their cause, the team has been collecting money for the charity during Macular Week.
Says Ophthalmic Director Michael Wong: 'We want to remind our customers and residents of Uxbridge to take care when buying their sunglasses. Ensure they meet the European Safety standards, and offer least 80% light reduction - this will significantly reduced exposure to UV light.'
Need some new sunglasses?
