The Skegness team got creative just in time for Christmas and judged a poster art competition for a children’s charity. Local kids were asked to design a poster to be displayed in the store’s window, which encouraged customers and passers-by to donate a present to Derbyshire Miners’ Children’s Home.

We have a winner!

The staff who judged the competition selected 10-year-old Skye Rowan’s excellent poster design as the winner. Runners up 10-year-old Bethany Dingley, 9-year-old Poppy Howard and 9-year-old Alesh Smith also had their posters displayed in the optician’s window, alongside the winner.

Store director Stuart Hogg said: ‘It was fantastic to see what designs the kids could come up with.  There was some brilliant creativity shown and we definitely having some budding artists here in Skegness.’

Derbyshire Miners’ Children’s Home celebrates its 125th anniversary this year. The children’s home held a Christmas party on Thursday 15th December, where all of the presents donated were collected.
