Plymouth race to save sight overseas
The Plymouth store is hosting a fundraising day on Saturday 1 August to raise vital funds to support a staff member taking part in a Vision Aid Overseas race.
Great Ethiopian Run
Dispensing optician Laurence Harris of Specsavers Plymstock, is currently preparing for the Great Ethiopian Run in November and will be running as far as he can on a treadmill in return for donations outside the store in Armada Way.
Laurence says: ‘I’m really enjoying my preparations and training for the Great Ethiopian Run in November. I have already been sponsored £1,000 by Specsavers as I was one of the first to sign up but I need to raise another £1,500 to take part.
‘I’m looking forward to seeing faces old and new on the 1 August when I put myself to the test and see how far I can run. ‘It is one of the biggest challenges I have faced and I am pleased that I have the backing from my colleagues in store.’
Store director Phil Gray says: ‘We are all really proud of Laurence in store. We are encouraging everyone to get involved and come out to support his efforts.’
