Plymouth military choir help celebrate new opticians on Plymouth Road
Sainsbury’s shoppers received an entertaining welcome on Saturday to celebrate the official opening of the Marsh Mills Specsavers store.
Founders of Specsavers, husband and wife Doug and Dame Mary Perkins joined store directors Dr Josie Forte and Philip Gray to host a celebratory party for all the family.
The Gruffalo was on hand to welcome children and pose for photographs, and the Plymouth Military Wives Choir provided shoppers with an emotional performance. As a thank you, the store donated £400 to the choir’s charitable cause.
Dame Mary said: ‘Plymouth was one of the first cities to open a Specsavers store when we first started. ‘We have watched with great pride as new stores have opened in and around Plymouth and I’m delighted to have attended the official opening in Sainsbury’s, Marsh Mills.’
Since opening its doors on 29 August the store is already hoping to employ a new optometrist and two further members of staff.
