Worksop opticians cycle for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice
Specsavers in Worksop was inspired by this summer’s biggest cycling event arriving in the region and hosted an in-store cyclethon to raise funds for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
The cyclethon took place in the Specsavers store on Bridge Street and the team smashed the target of cycling the distance equivalent to the first stage of the Grand Depart, 190.5km, by cycling a total of 685km in the week leading up to the start of the Tour.
Richard Bevan, store director at Worksop Specsavers, explains: ‘The whole region was buzzing in the lead-up to the Grand Depart, and what better way of celebrating the world famous event coming to the region than by turning our pedal power into much needed funds for our chosen charity, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
‘The cyclethon was a massive team effort and I applaud every one of them for getting into the spirit of the occasion and taking part. I’d like to say a big thank you to every one of our customers who came down and supported the team during their challenge, we’re really pleased to have raised such a substantial amount for the hospice, which is a fantastic local cause.’’
