Christmas spirit spread through the streets of Lerwick this week as Santa arrived on a local lifeboat to switch on the lights at Market Cross.
Excited children and members of the community lined the streets to welcome Santa as he led a parade from Victoria Pier with music from Lerwick Brass Band and Jarl Squad.
Several local businesses helped to spread some festive cheer including Specsavers which gifted goody bags to children. The kids packs contained activity books, a high visibility vest, balloons, stationary and a 25% discount card for parents.
Bringing the community together
Fiona McCulloch, store manager at Specsavers Lerwick, said: ‘The annual Santa parade is a great way to kick start the festive season and bring the community together.
‘It was fantastic to see so many kids sporting their high-vis vests as it is extremely important for them to be seen and stay safe in the darker nights and mornings.’
