Palmers Green eyecare experts have given children in Punjab, India, vital school supplies.

Led by Jaswinder Singh Nagra, store director at Specsavers in Palmers Green, the team from the Green Lanes store donated the items, which included new backpacks and shoes, to the pupils of Gona Chak Primary School in the city of Jalandhar.

A word from the store director

Jaswinder (35), said: ‘I’m a passionate believer in every child’s right to an education and I wanted to do my bit to support children in the city I grew up in, who might otherwise be unable to afford the costs associated with schooling. When I found out my parents would be making a trip to Jalandhar, I knew this was an opportunity to help.

‘This was something my colleagues also felt passionately about and we’re pleased our gifts have helped make a difference.’
