On Sunday 3 September an optometrist from Specsavers in Swindon completed the local half marathon, raising more than £500 for the Royal National Institute of Blind (RNIB) in the process.

Ahmed Ejaz aimed to complete the 13.1 mile route in less than two hours, managing to cross the finish line with 35 seconds to spare. Ahmed’s gruelling preparation included climbing Snowdon in Wales.

The Swindon Half Marathon attracted thousands of runners. The brand new route is designed to take people through the main highlights of Swindon including the magic roundabout and the county ground.

Proud staff

Store directors David Grieves and Paul Ewah encouraged Ahmed to run the marathon and store manager, Steve Kipling, supported Ahmed on the day.

Paul said: ‘We are really proud to have supported Ahmed when taking part in this brilliant local event. It is always inspiring to see the dedication towards charity work reflected in our team.’

If you wish to make a donation, Ahmed’s JustGiving page is still open.
