Opticians works with local Road Safety Officer
Specsavers in Belper is getting behind Road Safety Week (17-23 November) by welcoming a Road Safety Officer to the store on Saturday 22 November.
A local Road Safety Officer will join the team at 46-48 King Street on Saturday between 10am - 1:30pm to speak about the importance of road safety and educating the public on traffic law.
Staff will also be asking customers to take part in reading a number plate from a 20 metre distance, replicating the mandatory number plate test before a driving test. The team will also hand out Specsavers filled goody bags and high-visibility vests to children on the day.
Andy McBride, store director, said: ‘We are looking forward to getting behind this nationwide initiative and working alongside the local police force. Road safety is an important topic that we all need to brush up on.
‘We encourage the people of Belper to join us on the day and there’s plenty of high-visbility vests for children to pick up, to keep them safer on the roads during the dark mornings and evenings.’
Specsavers is the co-sponsor of Road Safety Week, the UK’s flagship road safety event, which is organised by road safety charity Brake. It’s an opportunity to help raise awareness about the importance of protecting people on bikes and foot as well as raise funds for a worthwhile cause.
