Specsavers in Alloa is investing a five figure sum in transforming its store into a state-of-the-art optical facility.
Cutting edge rennovation
Specsavers located on the High Street, is undergoing a cutting edge renovation, combining the latest eyecare and retail technology to provide a highly professional and ultra-modern service.
The store’s traditional reception desks will be replaced by mobile, standing and seated service points, and customers will be greeted and registered on tablet devices, which will also be used to measure and dispense their glasses. The concept, which is being rolled out across all Specsavers stores, is the first of its kind in optics.

Lynne Sangster, retail director of Specsavers in Alloa, said: 'The refurbishment of the store has been a long time in the planning and we are thrilled that it’s now underway.
‘We’ve been part of the High Street for 13 years and this investment represents our long term commitment to delivering great service to all our existing and new customers.’
The refurbishment commences on Monday 23 November with the majority of work expected to be carried out outside of the store’s opening hours. The store will be closed from 6 to 8 December in the lead up to the reopening on Wednesday 9 December which will be marked with a special launch day celebration.
New in-store experience
The new in-store experience builds on the digital precision eyecare initiative, which helps ensure people find the most suitable frames and lenses for their prescription, lifestyle and vision needs, that was launched nationally in May 2015.
Following an eye examination, the optical team assists customers in selecting their preferred glasses. Imaging software on a tablet is then used to take an image of them wearing the glasses, which in turn captures a range of essential dispensing measurements. These are unique to the customer and their chosen glasses.
