Newcastle under Lyme Specsavers have raised £140 by hosting a glow party in store to support Guide Dogs Week.
The team raised smiles as well as money for the charity by greeting customers in natty neon outfits and selling home-baked cakes, while local guide dog owners brought along their canine companions to meet customers and staff.
Store director, Peter Harvey said: ‘It was a pleasure to welcome George and Sue and their guide dogs, Barney and Biscuit to the store, enabling our customers find out more about the impact of the charity’s work first hand.
‘Specsavers has supported Guide Dogs for many years and we are always overwhelmed by the generous support of our customers. A donation of £5 will support a working guide dog partnership for a day, so every pound we’ve raised will make a real difference.’
Guide Dogs Week is an annual fundraising and awareness-building campaign. This year, Guide Dogs asked people to show their support by wearing neon colours throughout the week, while raising money to support the charity’s ongoing work in communities across the UK.
