Colleagues from Specsavers in Airdrie and Coatbridge recently put their best foot forward for a fundraiser in aid of Stand Up To Cancer and Cancer Research UK.
The store teams were challenged to walk at least 10,000 steps every day for the month of March as part of the ‘walking all over cancer’ fundraiser.
They tracked their steps via Fitbits, smart watches and pedometers meaning every step made in the daily commute, on the shop floor or outside of work all counted.
Collectively the team clocked up five million steps and raised £530 for charity in the process.
Going the extra mile for charity
Andrew McGonagle, store director at Specsavers Airdrie and Coatbridge, said: 'We have a brilliant team working across both stores who not only go above and beyond for our customers but are always keen to go the extra mile for charity and local causes.
'The walking all over cancer event was one that we could all get involved in and I’m delighted we raised a great sum across the month. Well done to everyone for taking part and a big thank you to everyone for their generous donations.'
