Opticians stands to attention for forces charity
Specsavers team in Wellingborough has raised more than £400 to support armed forces charities, Blind Veterans UK.
The team donated £1 from each sight test carried out throughout the week of Monday 23 June – Saturday 28 June.
Peter Cunningham, store director, said, ‘We wanted to show our support for Blind Veterans UK as it’s a cause close to our hearts. We are delighted to have raised such a significant sum of money and thank our customers for their support in our fundraising.’
Blind Veterans UK is the national charity for vision-impaired ex-Service men and women.
The charity launched its No One Alone campaign in October 2012. It aims to reach out to the 68,000 plus blind ex-Service personnel who would benefit from the charity’s services but either do not know about the charity or do not know that they are eligible for its lifelong support.
