An opticians in Brighouse asked its customers for donations towards the Salvation Army.

Specsavers on Commercial Street called for donations of children’s toys from local people, which were gifted to those in the area who were unable to afford the little luxuries that make Christmas special.

The Salvation Army will be distributing the toys to those in need within the community.

Gareth Hart, store director at Specsavers Brighouse, says: ‘I want to pass on a huge thank you to everyone who has already donated to our appeal.

‘There is such a lot to think about at this time of year, but lots of people are still finding the time to give back, which is wonderful to see.

‘Christmas can be a very difficult time. The pressure of ensuring that our children aren’t disappointed can weigh very heavily on our minds, which is why we wanted to ensure that no child goes without those little treats that can help bring magic to the day.

‘After the success of last year’s donations, we’ll be looking for even more ways to do our bit to help those who are struggling.’

The store will be accepting toys for donation until Monday 23 December.
