Children from Holy Trinity Playgroup will be seen more clearly when out and about this winter thanks to a donation of 30 high-visibility vests from the team at Ashby de la Zouch.
The store donated the vests to the playgroup as part of an initiative to make the roads safer for children in the darker months. With another 120 vests available, the store is now calling out to other nurseries and schools to make a request.
Paula Harper, store director, said: ‘It’s getting dark much earlier now so it’s important that we do everything we can to ensure our children can be easily seen, especially when they’re walking to and from school.
‘We were delighted to provide Holy Trinity Playgroup with a number of high-vis vests, but now have four more sets to giveaway. I’d urge other schools or groups, such as scouts and brownies, to get in touch and request these vests to help keep children safer in the dark.’
Specsavers is the co-sponsor of Road Safety Week, the UK’s flagship road safety event, which is organised by the charity Brake. It’s an opportunity to help raise awareness about the importance of protecting people on bikes and foot as well as raise funds for a worthwhile cause.
