Staff at Specsavers in Sutton Coldfield and Mere Green are searching for charities to support over the next 12 months as part of their ongoing commitment to helping the local community.
The stores are asking local charities, sports teams, community groups, individuals or schools to nominate themselves, by applying in writing, for the fundraising. Customers and visitors can then pick a cause they would like the store to assist.
Committed to fundraising
The teams have successfully run the initiative twice, helping causes like The Kelli Smith Appeal, Cherished, Splats Group and Friday Friends. As a result of the competition, the stores have raised over £2,000 for a range of charities.
Tim Goodhew, store director, said: ‘The feedback previously received from the initiative was great, so why not do it again? We’re delighted to raise money for charities and getting the local community involved is a bonus.
Nominate a charity
‘We’d like for people to write in and nominate a cause they feel deserves our support – it could be a school raising money for new sports equipment, or an individual who needs treatment for an illness added Tim. ‘If you’d like to get involved, don’t hesitate to get in touch.’
How to enter
To recommend a local cause, write to Specsavers Sutton Coldfield and Mere Green and tell them what the cause is, and why they should be picked. The closing date for nominations is the 31 October 2019.
