Opticians provides food for thought
Specsavers in Sutton in Ashfield has announced it will start to support the recently relaunched ‘Mary’s Foodbank at Sutton’.
Staff at the store in the Idlewells Shopping Centre, Sutton, will be continuing to support the foodbank collection, which serves families in need in the local community. The store sponsored the charity by providing rebranded artwork, including a logo, letterheads and leaflets that will be distributed by volunteers.
The foodbank, previously owned by Ashfield Voluntary Action, will now be managed by the Magdalene Centre which will continue to work with organisation Framework, which distributes the collected food to approximately 100 people every Friday afternoon.
Store director Nigel Davidson said, ‘We have always thought the foodbank collection was a great local cause to help as it serves people in need in our town during these tough times.
‘Although the foodbank is now under new ownership, we know the transition will be as smooth as possible. We were only too happy to help with providing the start-up materials to help raise awareness of the relaunch, and we wish them every success for the future,’ Nigel added.
