A pair of North East business partners have unveiled a brand new store in Arnison, creating fifteen new jobs and investing hundreds of thousands of pounds in the area.
Andrew Craig and Dermot Thompson who own the Specsavers store on Durham’s North Road have launched their second Specsavers store within the North East.
Enhancing Optical and Audiology Services
The new store at Arnison Retail Park will deliver enhanced optical and audiology services to the town, boasting thousands of frames, a brand new OCT machine and five optical test rooms with an audiology facility.
Having relocated from Australia nearly ten years ago for the position at Specsavers Durham, Andrew hopes that the new venture in Arnison will have a positive impact on the Durham area and its residents.
A word from the store directors
Andrew said: ‘It’s a real pleasure to be opening the store in Arnison, and I hope that Specsavers will help bring added value to the town.
‘Dermot and I are passionate and committed to providing locals with the best optical and hearing services available and can’t wait to build relationships with new customers.’
Dermot said: ‘It’s a privilege to be bringing another Specsavers store to the North East.
The demand is there so we are happy to be able to provide more services to new and existing customers.
‘It’s a very exciting time, and we’re looking forward to many years of serving the community.’
The store will officially celebrate its opening on Saturday 7 March with fun and entertainment for staff and customers alike. The Arnison store has five test rooms and an audiology room and also features an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) machine: a cutting-edge piece of equipment, usually found in hospital eye departments, which is used in the screening and management of conditions including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.
Specsavers in Arnison will be fully operational and open to the public as of the morning of the official launch on Saturday 7 March, and customers are invited to join the celebratory activities.
