Specsavers stores located at 30 Lion Yard and 13 Fitzroy Street, recently held a week-long cycling fundraiser to coincide with the Tour de France coming to Cambridge and raise money for children and young people with life-threating conditions across Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex.

£500 bicycle wonby Burleigh Baker

Two opticians selected the lucky winner of a £500 gift certificate following a charity fundraising event in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The store also offered customers the chance to enter a raffle with the promise of a £500 bike voucher as a prize for the winner, which has been claimed by local resident and Burleigh Bake Shop employee, Valerie Ann Davis. The store surprised Valerie at the bake shop to present her with the fantastic prize.

Specsavers Cambridge store director, Henry Churchill says: ‘The look on Valerie’s face was priceless and we are thrilled to be able to offer such a great prize and make her so happy.

£642 raised for children's hospices

The in-store activity really generated lots of interest from customers and members of the public and we are so happy to have raised £642 for the hospices.’

Prize winner, Valerie, says: ‘It was such a shock, I never win anything! The number 6 has always been my lucky number so when it popped up in my raffle number, I did get a strange feeling but I still didn’t expect this.

Thank you so much to the Cambridge Specsavers stores.’
