Grantham has specs appeal
Grantham Specsavers is collecting unwanted specs to help raise funds for international charity Vision Aid Overseas (VAO).
The team is calling out to locals to donate unwanted specs to the charity, which delivers eyecare and a sustainable supply of glasses to impoverished people in the developing world.
Store director Bijal Ladva explains: ‘We have a special collection point in-store, where you can drop off your unwanted specs. Donating old glasses costs you nothing, but really drives funds for the charity which improves access to eyecare for people with poor vision in developing countries.
‘Most people who wear specs will have pairs they no longer wear due to a change in prescription. If you do, please drop them off into the store so that they can be put to good use.’
VAO raises money by selling the materials recycled from old glasses. The process is environmentally friendly and enables the charity to fund its overseas projects. For more information visit www.visionaidoverseas.org.
