Opticians in Winsford get fitter for three good causes
Staff at Specsavers in Winsford took their fitness to the next level recently to raise cash for three charities close to their hearts.
Members of the team really put their bodies to the test via a number of challenging sporting activities in a bid to raise money for Meningitis Now, Macmillian Cancer Support and Sports Relief. Caralyn Jones, a dispensing assistant at the Winsford Shopping Centre store, drove the fundraising with a 300 mile bike ride having lost three relatives to cancer during the last year and a half.
‘Macmillian Cancer Care were such a support and comfort. They were there for our family throughout, helping us to understand the disease and providing us all with invaluable care and support. In my opinion, their support service is vital for anyone who is affected by cancer.’ Caralyn cycled a whopping 300 miles in a bid to raise money for both Macmillian Cancer care and Meningitis Now, which is a key charity for the store.
Last year store director Philip Cooke lost his three month old daughter to meningitis, leaving him devastated. This was also a huge blow to the whole team at the store, and they have all been proactively raising cash for Meningitis Now ever since.
Director Phil cycled 50 miles for Sports Relief , and sporty Caralyn Jones completed a Swimathon at Winsford Lifestyle Centre, making Specsavers in Winsford the most active opticians in the area.
