Free high-vis vests for Rugeley children
Rugeley Specsavers is giving away free high-visibility vests to help local children stand out in the dark this winter.
The Upper Brook Street store is donating the vests on a ‘first-come, first-served basis’ and has 100 to give away to children aged between five and 13.
Minal Naik, store director at Specsavers in Rugeley, said: ‘Now that the clocks have gone back, it’s important that children are more visible to drivers, particularly when out and about or walking to and from school. Motorists often find it hard to see pedestrians wearing dark clothes at night, so the high-vis vests will help children to be seen more easily.’
Specsavers promotes road safety through its Drive Safe campaign which calls for all drivers to have regular sight tests and is also a sponsor of Road Safety Week (23 – 29 November). The annual event, organised by road safety charity, Brake, is an opportunity to inspire communities to take action on road safety and raise awareness of life-saving messages.
