Opticians eyes up the gift of giving
Yardley Specsavers is appealing to customers to get into the Christmas spirit by donating stocking gifts for a women’s refuge charity.
Staff at the store are collecting gift items for Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid from now until Friday 19 December.
There is a collection box in store where shoppers can drop off their individual items; with suggestions such as toys, toiletries and sweets for children or mothers. These gifts will then be packaged up by the staff at the store before being delivered to the charity in time for Christmas.
Dee Browning, store director said: ‘The season of goodwill is approaching and so we felt it was a fitting time to give something back to those in less fortunate situations than ourselves.
‘The Women’s Aid charity works hard to ensure the best outcomes for women and their children and we hope that the local community will support us with this initiative, helping to deliver a little festive cheer.’
For more than 35 years, Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid has been supporting women and children affected by domestic violence, rape and sexual assault. The charity believes that women and children have the right to live free from violence, abuse and fear.
