Burnley and Nelson stores benefit from new robot technology
The Specsavers stores in Burnley and Nelson have invested £90,000 in new lab equipment this year to deliver lenses faster to customers.
The new NIDEK RHU-1000 Robotic Handling unit was acquired in March and has since produced more than 46,000 pairs of lenses for the stores, averaging at 750 per week and recently racking up a record 1,022 pairs of lenses in a week.
Quality and volume
David Cleasby, director at both stores, said: "This new robot gives us the ability to maintain quality while still producing the high volumes required for two busy a high street stores.
"We're very pleased with the results that it has given us so far and look forward to more customers benefiting from it in 2016."
