Two members of  Specsavers optical team in Gloucester will be getting out the hair clippers in a bid to raise money for charity.

Every donation counts

On Tuesday 26 July, Andy Allen and Matt Banks, both dispensing opticians at Specsavers in Eastgate Shopping Centre, will be shaving their heads and beards entirely for Macmillan Cancer Support. They have been fundraising through donations to their JustGiving page in the run up to the event and have already exceeded their £50 target for the charity, with a current total of £175.

‘We wanted to do something fun and light-hearted to raise money for a really worthwhile charity,’ said Andy. ‘We’ve had some generous donations so far and we’d really appreciate any further help to beat our target by even more.’

There are 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK today and, as more people live longer with their cancer, this number is set to grow to 4 million by 2030.
