Local opticians raised more than £800 for Down's Syndrome Scotland

A local opticians has raised more than £800 for Down’s Syndrome Scotland as staff members completed a sponsored ‘step count challenge’.

Staff at Specsavers Musselburgh started the step challenge, in honour of former patient James Davie who sadly passed away in April of this year, in order to raise funds for Down’s Syndrome Scotland.

The staff completed the finale of their challenge on Saturday 2nd July by hosting a bake sale as well and walking on a treadmill set up outside the store.

A word from the store director

Diana Kelly, store director at Specsavers Musselburgh said: ‘The step challenge was a great success and we raised a fantastic amount for Down’s Syndrome Scotland.We were so grateful that Jim’s family were able to come down to the store to support our staff at the finale.

‘I would like to thank my staff members and all of our customers who have supported us over the past 8 weeks.’
