Opticians take a moonlight stroll for charity
Members of staff Sophie Shirley, Holly Claydon-Bevan and Jesse Parker took part in the Shakespeare Hospice Moonlit Walk in early June and completed the 10km route from Straford-upon-Avon School in less than two hours.
Sophie and her fellow walkers raised over £500, including over £100 collected from customers in store.
Healthcare assistant Sophie said, ‘This was our first year taking part in the Moonlit Walk and we really enjoyed it. There were several hundred people taking part and we were pleased with our time. We’d like to thank everyone who’s contributed to our fundraising on behalf of the Shakespeare Hospice. We’d aimed to raise £150, so it’s brilliant to have more than tripled that amount.’
Store director, Paul Griffiths, added: ‘I’m delighted to add my congratulations. It was fantastic to see our staff members do so well and raise a great amount of money for a worthy local cause. ’
The Moonlit Walk, celebrated its 15th anniversary by asking women, men and children to adopt fairy wings and walk more than six miles from 10pm for Shakespeare’s Hospice. This independent local charity provides free specialist care for people affected by life-limited illness and offers support for carers and family members too.
