Optician bakes for cancer care
The Specavers opticians, on George Street, Pontypool, has raised more than £200 for Velindre Cancer Centre.
The store raised the money by hosting a cake sale, selling treats made by staff member Liz Sands, and taking to the streets to brave the winter conditions outside in a bid to raise further funds from shoppers.
As the opticians is an official fundraising partner of Velindre, the store raised the money in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month. All proceeds are set to go towards vital cancer research and to provide care for cancer suffers across Wales.
Every community is affected:
Store director Anna Davies, said: ‘We are a community opticians and sadly every community is affected by cancer.
‘It is a cause that is very important to us and, we know, to many of our customers, so we are proud to be supporting Velindre and the valuable work that they do.
‘All of our staff contributed to the cake sale, and in helping to make it a success and I thank everyone who came along and supported the event.’
